We just got back from an exciting and fun trip to the Mediterranean. We went with Ryan's parents and dragged our kids along for the journey. Here is a brief recap of our trip. We did not have a lot of down time, from the moment we got off the plane in Rome we were busy sight seeing. Cambridge and Brody were excited to ride on their very first train.
Saint Peter's is a lot bigger than any picture can show. You must witness it first hand to understand how huge and yet beautiful it really is.
A stop to Rome is not complete without tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain. Tradition says that if you throw a coin in the fountain you are certain to come back to Rome one day, we sure hope that is true!
Seeing the ancient sites in Rome make you wonder what these once great buildings looked like when they were new.
After a short day and a half in Rome it was time to get on our boat. The first stop we had was in Sicily. This was my favorite stop. It is very beautiful there. We toured an active volcano and nearly froze to death.
The next day was a day at sea, so we found all sorts of fun things to do on the ship.
The next day we were in Athens, Greece and went to see the Parthenon. It is hard to imagine that this building was built over 400 years before Christ.
The next stop was Turkey. At this stop we visited the ancient city of Ephesus. St. Paul once visited this city as he was spreading the gospel after Christ's death. He visited a large amphitheater to preach to the Ephesians, but was not well received. He left the city and later wrote the letter to the Ephesians that is found in the New Testament. Turkey is a fun place to visit where bartering is a way of life. We bought a handmade carpet while we were there. The person we bought it from said that it took two people about eight months to create it. I hope it looks good in my house!
Our first stop was to visit the Vatican Museum. To say that this place is huge is an understatement. It was a little crowded, but the decorations in the building are wonderful. Nearly every ceiling is covered in art so our necks did get sore from looking up.

The last stop on our trip was to the island of Crete. We decided that it was time to just hang out at the beach and have some fun. The water was a little cold at first, but that did not stop my little fish Brody from heading right in. Even Cambridge got in on the fun and was heartbroken when we had to leave.
We had one more day at sea which was great to have some relaxation for our long journey home.
Our boys were so good this trip, but we definitely wore them out. Yes we were a little crazy to take them along, but we are glad we did!
So sad it is over, but we had so much fun!

Ah!!! What a FABULOUS trip!! Steve & Shirley told us all about it on Sunday, so it's fun to see pictures to go with each of the places! Glad you guys were able to go :) :)
